I
had the opportunity to participate in one of Jeff Kirkwood’s “Bassin’
Classes” as well as fish with Jeff at Lake Fork on a full day guided trip.
One month later I had the opportunity to take advantage of the discount
given from the “Bassin’ Class” on Lake Fork.
We had an awesome time. We
started off the morning throwing topwaters.
After about an hour we had only one bite. We both wanted to get on the topwater bite but it just
wasn’t going to happen that morning. Confidently,
Jeff recommended us switching over to one of the finesse’ techniques he covers
in his class under tough fishing conditions.
An hour later we had eight fish in the boat and another half dozen that
we had missed. Jeff put us on the
fish and knew exactly what bait to throw. That
day the fish continued to bite very soft and short but our superior fishing
skills put over 20 fish in the boat. At
the end of the day we had caught more fish than any other guided trip out of our
marina. I want to finish off by
saying that, “Not only is Jeff a talented and knowledgeable fishing guide, but
he’s also a great “Fisher of Men.” Jeff
is a Christian man who has a true love for the Lord.
I truly enjoyed spending time on the water with Jeff, talking about God.
Jeff has been involved with the local church as a minister and musician.
Jeff Kirkwood is definitely a man who believes in serving for others (on
and off of the water) just as Christ served for us.

have used several fishing guides. After
fishing the first time with Jeff, I have continued to use him exclusively. Even though most of the times I have fished with him the
fishing conditions were poor, we still consistently caught good quantities of
fish as well as good quality fish. I’ve
noticed when comparing fishing reports with other guides at lunchtime; we have
always out produced all of them. Jeff’s
boat and equipment are meticulously well maintained. He not only is outstanding at locating fish and knowing what
to use, he is an excellent teacher while on the water and you will become a
better fisherman by using him. I
also highly suggest Jeff’s “Bassin’ Class.”
I attended a B.A.S.S. sponsored fishing class once and I found I learned
a lot more from attending Jeff’s school.
I also found Jeff’s class to be more interesting and enjoyable.

FISHIN’
WITH JEFF IS THE BEST! I first met
Jeff in the fall of ’96 when my girlfriend booked a crappie trip for me for my
birthday on Lake Lavon. It was
great! Two poles going at once!
I’ve since had many trips with Jeff at Lavon, Fork & Monticello.
I’ve learned a lot from Jeff. He
has taught me to use a bait-casting reel. I’ve
only used spin-cast for 20 years ‘til I met Jeff.
Boy, he sure has patience! I
also took his class and learned about baits for the season, lake contours, moon
phases, effects of the weather and much more.
Jeff really wants his customers to catch fish and he’s done a wonderful
job seeing to this. He’s even
gone so far as letting me use one of “special” lures and I landed 6# and a
7# back-to-back. We always catch
something. Thanks Jeff, see you on
the lake!

caught on my last trip, being an 8.2lbs. I
have fished with other guides, but all they wanted to do was put “meat in the
boat” with them catching the most. Not
my idea of an outing. You are
always there to help, and see that I got first cast at a good-looking structure.

I
fished with Jeff this spring and caught the biggest bass ever.
We decided to go with Jeff after he came and was guest speaker at our
bass club. I have fished with
guides before, but Jeff put me on the big one.
He even helped me a month later in the Honey Hole Big Bass Tournament,
when he told me how to catch one of only six fish over the slot.
Jeff had a number of helpful hints about how to make fishing more fun.

Last
year, I decided to plan a trip to fish Lake Fork.
I found a guide listing in Bassin’ Magazine and decided to call for
pricing. I had never fished with a
guide, so I assumed the price would be expensive.
The guide I called was “Fishin’ With Jeff!” I was thrilled to find out the price was very reasonable.
Not knowing what to expect, my wife & I left for Lake Fork with
pretty high expectations. We were not disappointed!
Jeff has a wonderful knowledge of the lake. He kept us on fish even under bad weather conditions.
We went with one purpose – to catch fish – and that we did!
Not only did we catch fish but, we netted a friendship that will last a
lifetime! Since that first trip, we
have returned several times – always catching fish, & very nice fish I
might add. One trip in particular,
over 20 fish were caught, each averaging over 5lbs.
You have to admit – that’s a great day anywhere!

I want to thank you for all the excellent fishing trips we have had together
over the last two plus years. Whether
Lake Fork, Lavon or Monticello, you always provide me and my guests with more
fun than anticipated. You have
given the children not only the experience of catching their first fish but also
the joy of catching lots of fish & big fish.
The 5 + pound fish my daughter Whitney caught lets her stay in the
contest of bragging rights with my son Robbie.
My clients and friends that gone on our trips with us have for the most
part been “Novice” fishermen. However,
you have always managed to make sure they catch fish and have a time to
remember. I am very appreciative of
the time you have spent with me to expand my fishing ability.
Thanks to you, I have gone from spinner-baits & rattletraps to tubes,
jigs, finesse’ worms (tackle), Texas-rigs & Carolina-rigs; and man is it

Fishin' With Jeff All Rights Reserved
On August 5, I was at a
convenient store by Lake Lavon. I
am a novice fisherman with a new boat I bought two months prior.
I over-heard a conversation between two guys about a recent trip one of
them took with what he believed was the best guide he had ever hired.
I interrupted the conversation and asked who that might be, he told me,
Jeff Kirkwood. After fishing a full
day at Lavon I caught 3 black bass of less than 2lbs. total.
Being frustrated I went home and got on the Internet to do a little
research. After finding Jeff Kirkwood or “Fishin’ With Jeff” in
at least 7 different web sites I decided to give him a call. I gave Jeff a call and he told me about his guide service and
a “Bassin’ Class” that he offered. He
told me this class would probably be great idea. I personally have read 5+ books and watched hours of fishing
shows but what I learned in his two night class definitely was more useful than
all info. learned prior. Jeff keeps
the classes small in order to be able to answer all questions and teach his
professional knowledge on things like weather, lures, presentation and tackle.
The class is 6 hours and consisted of in-depth knowledge of these things. My understanding of these important aspects of fishing has
since then made me a more consistent and definitely a better fisherman in any
situation. This class I think, is a
must for any fisherman who wants to catch more fish and have better fishing
days. Thank you, Jeff. 
Fishing With Jeff has been
a great experience, when I first went out with Jeff I didn’t know what to
expect, from a Fishin' Guide. Jeff made me feel very welcome and showed me a lot
of things. We jump in to the boat and off we went. We started talking about what
kind of fishing technique I wanted to learn. I told Jeff that I want to learn some
technique that would help me catch more fish and help me with Tournament fishing
because that's what I want to start doing. Well ever since then Fishin’ With Jeff has
help me become a good Tournament fishermen, Jeff has been able to teach me good
technique for tough condition and also how to approach a body of water and fine fish.
I believe that Fishin’ With Jeff is one of the best Guides that I have gone
